Birds starting to fly.

Some recordings meant to work as the flapping of bat wings. To record this, i just used a plant with slightly leathery/plastic-sounding leaves and shook it a few times in front of a mic. Simple but effective!.

A raven flying by overhead in a forest on gabriola island off the coast of bc. Some droney ambiance from steel mill across the water in nanaimo. As the raven flies overhead, it is remarkable how well the mic picked up the flapping of its wings. Recorded with a zoom h2.

Recording for an audiodrama: large angel wings, flying.

The sound of a fly upside down, sort of dying on my kitchen table. Recorded by me on a tascam dr-05.

H2n zoom placed underneath a feeding place for small birds as they go back and forth between the feeder and trees close by. Towards the end a tractor drives in the distance and a cat walks by making the birds fly away at once.

I fluttered a plastic spatula in front of my tlm-103 in the studio. It's recorded at 96k, 32 bits, so you can stretch it or pitch it any way you want. If you want it to sound small you'll want to filter off the low end. On the other hand, you can probably get some fun gigantic effects by using just the bass, or even pitching it down. A very short raw audio mp3 recording of an insect, probably a bee, buzzing by the mic of a black sony ic voice recorder.

A very simple experiment i made for fun, using kinda low quality processed recordings. I tried to create some kind of alien soundscape vaguely inspired by half-life xen, especially the black mesa version.

Deep notes created with a osc, shaped with the "aetereal" and "alienspace weaver" vst's. Effects: echo, reverb.

A simple hi-hat turned down to 31 bpm, (key: c, major pentatonic), repeated and "randomized". Effects are made with a squeeze filter.

I only use a triple osc and i took an advantage of the several asio bugs of my soundcard. I don't mix the sound. I've re-recorded that shape 17 times, after that, i applied massive echo and reverb filters. 3 osc, echo, reverb, compressor. For this record, i've deleted the major part of the notes. Some new settings of the echo filter, are applied.

We had to eat as many wings as we can!. Taken at buffalo wild wings, 6:30pm - 7:30pm est.

An extra on set caught a cicada and let me record it flapping its wings. I used an at-897 to record this into a 664. It's very close mic-ed.
